About
I am a visual artist and printmaker based at Graphic Studio Dublin, where I have also worked as collaborative printer, Master Printer and Programme Coordinator.
My work explores ideas of escape, safety and containment through richly coloured multi-plate etchings, monoprints and layered collage pieces. I have exhibited and taken part in residencies nationally and internationally, including at Edinburgh Printmakers, Edinburgh, Scotland; Cill Rialiag Arts, Co. Kerry, and Lendava, Slovenia.
I am represented in Dublin at Graphic Studio Gallery and SO Fine Art Editions, showing new work regularly and also at the Royal Hibernian Academy’s Annual Open Submission. I have shown extensively internationally, most recently at Ireland House, the Irish Embassy in Japan, Tokyo. My work is in many collections including the Office of Public Works, the Chester Beatty Library and the National Gallery of Ireland.
In recent years I have been working in collage alongside my etching process. I create one-off original pieces using this technique to combine elements of monoprint, mokuhanga and carborundum with collaged elements from my etchings. These collage works exist in tandem with the etchings creating new narratives and compositions– a sort of vernacular from which I can draw my own printed universe, changing and evolving with each iteration of the narrative, with each re-telling of the tale..
