variations on a theme

This exhibition provided me with the opportunity to reflect on some of the themes, ideas and motifs that continue to crop up in my work. Groups or collections of things have always interested me. They suggest a dialogue, a gathering, some kind of communication.
Houses, buildings, trees, fruit, boats, clouds, islands and storms seem to recur in my work. They juxtapose ideas of rootedness, confinement and safety with ones of volatililty, freedom and flux.
